"I switched to State Farm because they offered a better rate, and initially, my experience was very positive. Evan was extremely helpful, responsive, and made the process of switching my insurance easy. Unfortunately, that experience changed very quickly.
I received a letter from State Farm dated August 3 stating that if I did not have my roof replaced, my homeowners insurance would be canceled effective September 7. Giving a homeowner roughly five weeks to obtain multiple roofing estimates, select a contractor, and actually have the work completed is completely unrealistic. Most reputable roofing companies are booked at least four weeks out, if not longer.
Despite the incredibly short timeframe, I was fortunate enough to find a roofer who was able to squeeze me into their schedule for September 3. Unfortunately, due to rain and storms, they were unable to complete the work until September 8 — just one day after State Farm’s deadline.
Throughout this process, I kept Evan informed and explained the situation. What was especially disappointing was the complete lack of willingness to work with me or even attempt to request a one-day extension due to circumstances that were outside of my control. I wasn’t asking for months — I was asking for one day.
When it became clear that an extension might not be possible, I then asked Evan what my next steps were and how I could go about getting my homeowners policy reinstated once the roof was completed.
Crickets.
I received absolutely no response.
After initially having such a positive experience with State Farm and Evan, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of communication and customer service when I actually needed help. Being given an unrealistic deadline, doing everything I could to meet it, keeping my agent informed, and then being essentially ignored when I needed guidance was incredibly frustrating and stressful.
My experience has left me questioning how State Farm treats its customers once they are actually faced with an issue.
I would strongly caution anyone considering switching to State Farm unless you have a brand-new roof or are prepared for the possibility of being given a very short, unrealistic timeframe to replace it — and then being left on your own if circumstances prevent you from meeting the deadline by a day.
Unfortunately, what started as a positive experience turned into one that I would not recommend.
I would I like to respond to your explanation.
While I appreciate the attempt to clarify what you think happened and to protect your business with horrible customer service, some facts you stated are just not correct.
As I explained to Evan I never received communication from him in July. It wasn’t until I called the office after looking at my account online and realizing my homeowners wasn’t active. He told me he texted me back in a July and then even attempted to resend the text message while on phone several times and it never went through. And this was only communicated because I reached out to your office, not the other way around.
On my call with Evan it was communicated that I needed to submit proof that corrections/repairs were in the process of being made it wasn’t until days and emails later that it was made clear the job had to be fully complete by the deadline.
As far as communicating next steps, like I said in my original review I reached out to Evan regarding what to do when I was aware the deadline would not be met and I received no response. Therefore I had no choice but to switch insurance providers."

Our records show that Evan personally reached out to you in July to explain the underwriting concerns, the necessary roof improvements, and the steps needed to maintain your homeowner's coverage and again in August our office communicated that the completed work and supporting photographs were required by September 7. We also explained that if the work was completed after that deadline, we could submit the documentation and pursue reinstatement of coverage.
We certainly understand that contractor schedules and unexpected weather can create challenges. However, underwriting requirements and cancellation require proof to reverse adverse action.
While we understand your frustration with the circumstances, we believe it is important to clarify that our office did communicate the requirements, provide advance notice, and explain the potential next steps if the deadline was not met.
We understand how frustrating and stressful it can be when unexpected home repairs and weather delays affect your insurance coverage. We are sorry this situation was stressful for you, as that is never the experience, we want our customers to have. At our agency, we are committed to more than simply offering competitive rates on auto, home, and life insurance. We take pride in educating our customers, helping them understand their coverage, and proactively communicating when issues arise.

"Very unclear on what was being insured and what exactly I was signing up for. Very “sales agent” mentality. Did not even know I was enrolled in a car tracking Bluetooth device program until I got it in the mail. When I called to inquire, I was simply met with agents who “thought they told me”. My first and last time with State Farm. No online platform of any kind."

"If ZERO stars was an option that’s exactly what they’d get a 1 star is to good for this business!!! The agent herself is very unprofessional tells you what you want to hear to not have to work and actually look into issues !!! They NEVER answer the phone they prefer to do everything by text IF THEY EVEN RESPOND AT ALL!! I waited 3 weeks with every other day calling and texting for a phone call back and still didn’t get one I eventually had to call blocked and wouldn’t you know they answered first ring!!! And I was told OH WELL NOTHING I CAN DO"

"I wanted to leave a review because I was more than impressed with the personable, knowledgeable, and patient experience I had with Evan, at Statefarm. I really felt like I was in one of those commercials, and he must have been wearing khaki pants for sure (commercial reference). I say this because not only did he answer every one of my long list of questions professionally, he really made me feel like I was just talking with a friend and genuinely was there to help. Since I made this call during my work day, and I was worried one of my own customer’s would need my assistance while on the call, Evan assured me he did not mind the wait and there was no rush. Sure enough, a customer call came in and Evan patiently waited for me on hold for over 20 minutes or more until I was available to talk again. He addressed all my concerns and needs without any sense of a sales pitch or need to move things along. — If it weren’t for his patience and expertise, I would have had to end the call and forget to call back as this was one big task on my laundry list of priority items. I hope Statefarm is as good to Evan as he was to me. Thank you for everything Evan!"
